Message from the Chairman | ![]() |
My Fellow Republicans:
Let me
first start out by thanking you for your time, energy, and dedication to the
Grand Old Party.
As you spend your valuable time with your
families this month, and especially as you celebrate President's Day, I would
like to make a special request of you, and offer you a few of my thoughts.
Let me first start out by thanking you for your time, energy, and dedication
to the Grand Old Party.
As you spend your valuable time with your families this month, and especially
as you celebrate President's Day, I would like to make a special request
of you, and offer you a few of my thoughts.
First, I ask you to spend at least a few minutes thinking about one of
the great Republican Presidents to whom we pay tribute and honor. President
Lincoln led our great nation in rough times. Those times impacted him in such a
way that, among other things, from time to time he made many important speeches
that rallied the GOP and our great nation. As I write to you today I am reminded
of one particular speech I read a few years ago, in which he proclaimed:
". . . our cause must be entrusted to those whose hands are free, whose hearts are
in the work, who do care for the result. Of strange, discordant, and even hostile
elements, we gathered from the four winds, and formed and fought the battle through,
under the constant hot fire of a disciplined, proud, and pampered enemy. Did we brave
all them to falter now? Now, when that same enemy is wavering, dissevered, and
belligerent? The result is not doubtful. We shall not fail. If we stand firm, we shall
not fail. Wise counsels may accelerate, or mistakes delay it, but, sooner or later,
the victory is sure to come."
These words from President Lincoln's "House Divided" speech ring truer than ever today
for those of us who believe in personal responsibility, economic freedom, and freedom
from excessive government. His words have powerful meaning even now, and even though
now applied in a completely different context.
The context of which I refer is that of this year's important elections, and indeed,
the future of our party. As President Lincoln so eloquently charged in his "House Divided"
speech in 1858, we as Republicans must today stand firm and fight for our conservative
values, and if we do so, just as he promised, we will not fail.
Think about what is at stake at the local level. As you already know we are engaging
in a rigorous fight by the Democrats to take our slim majority in the State Senate. We
need to fight to keep, and even expand, our majority there. Likewise, we need to expand
our numbers in the State Assembly.
On the national level, need I remind each and every one of you of the horrendous effect
a Democratic victory in November would have on our tax burden, on the economic well being
of our families? Equally important, you must think about future presidential appointments
to the judiciary. If you desire to continue to have outstanding "Original Intent" jurists
nominated to the federal bench by Senator John Ensign, who believes like you and I that it
is not a judge's job to make laws, but instead only to interpret them, then you know how
important it is to fully participate in this fight. Like you, I have heard the words of
one of the men we honor on Monday, and I am ready to fight for the victory that is sure
to come if we do all that we must.
Thank you for the opportunity to address you in this letter. Thank you as well for the
opportunity to serve the GOP as your county party chairman. As always, I hope you know
that you are all included in the prayers of my wife, Shannan, and my children, W.W. and
Maddie. On behalf of the Clark County Republican Party, I humbly ask for your continued
prayers, patience, and support, so that we may bring victory to our Republican candidates
in November.
Sincerely
yours,
Bernie Zadrowski,
Clark County GOP Chairman
