The Fight is Upon Us -from the Chairman

Clark County Republican Party Chairman Bernie Zadrowski     My Fellow Republicans:

Now that the caucus, county convention, and Lincoln Day Dinner are behind us, we are entering into a new "phase" of the political season, quite possibly the most important part. Very soon, if you haven't already, you will be receiving notices and requests from various Republican candidate campaigns asking for your help and your vote. Ladies and gentlemen, today I ask that you do one thing . . .

Man your battle stations! The fight is upon us.

Now that we have chosen our standard bearer, the Democrats' "slime machine" is in full attack mode. You may have witnessed the two Democratic presidential candidates take time out from their prevaricating about their own records and attacking each other, to attack Senator John McCain. Most recently, the Democrats and their supporters in the media have attempted to characterize our Republican presidential nominee as an "unprincipled" and "opportunistic flip flopper." Their strategy is clear - rehearse the lies, repeat them often, and continue to distort the truth.

As Nevada is officially a "battleground" state, the attacks on local Republicans have been equally, if not more, intense. Our governor, ever loyal to taxpaying Nevadans by requiring government to be lean and accountable, has been incessantly attacked by the liberal smear machine as "abominable," "inhumane," and "too casual." Too casual? If that doesn't tell you how desperate the liberals are, can you believe that Governor Gibbons was recently blamed for the horrific events that occurred at the Endoscopy Institute? A liberal assemblywoman, grandstanding over a public health tragedy, figuratively pointed her finger at the governor and stated; "Now we're seeing what happens when basic government resources aren't adequate." Did you get that folks! It isn't a question of responsibility on the part of the perpetrator(s). The perpetrator(s) isn't responsible for his/her misdeed. No! Government, and specifically in this case, the Governor, is responsible for not having enough inspectors!

Liberals and their cozy media mouthpieces have even resorted to attacking Nevada's great GOP Chair, Sue Lowden, for her call for a little fiscal responsibility. The liberals believe that a call for greatly needed tax cuts to go along with the governor's spending cuts is "disingenuous and destructive." To the contrary, putting more money in the taxpayer's pocket, coupled with cutting the fat from the budget is EXACTLY what a potentially ailing economy needs. The Madam Chairman is right for calling for tax cuts. If there is any doubt as to whether such an action benefits an economy, one need only look back to the Bush and Reagan tax cuts to see that such advice is responsible and smart. But then again, we would expect nothing less from the woman who will lead Nevada to victory in November!

If you thought the battle was going to be different this time, it isn't going to be. As we have seen time and time again, calls by Republicans for fiscal responsibility will be labeled inhumane, mean-spirited, and destructive. Calls by right-thinking citizens for personal responsibility and freedom from oppressive government will be attacked as just more one-dimensional thinking, draconian, and oppressive to the poor and minorities. Their savior, as it has always been, will be more government "oversight." Roughly translated that means more money that you, the taxpayer, will have confiscated by liberal lawmakers and their big-government plans, and more government intrusion into the lives of your families

Democrats believe that they were given a mandate by the 2006 elections to impose their tax and spend, big government agenda on free-thinking Nevadans. They believe that their principles are superior to the Republican principles of economic freedom and personal responsibility. As your chairman, I ask you, will you sit back and allow the Democrats to continue to believe that their principles shall rule the day?

When that telephone call comes in to your home asking for your help, or when that Republican candidate knocks on your door and asks for your help, will you rise and fight? I hope and pray that you will heed the words of Abraham Kuyper, famous Dutch Theologian and Prime Minister, who once challenged his people: "When principles that run against your deepest convictions begin to win the day, then battle is your calling."

Senator John McCain, Governor Gibbons, Congressman Porter, Senators Bob Beers and Joe Heck, all of our Republican candidates, Sue Lowden and all who speak for the Republican party need your support in this fight. With you, we will be victorious. When the phone rings at your home, let battle be your calling. Man your battle stations, the fight is upon us. As always, know that our prayers are with you in this fight.

        Sincerely yours,
     Bernie Zadrowski,

Clark County GOP Chairman
