Titus Presents Health Care Public Option While Hiding Behind Shopping Carts

Dear Friends of Liberty:

The Clark County Republican Party calls upon Congresswoman Alice Constandina Titus to face the people in a real townhall, and let the truth be spoken and heard!

Congresswoman Titus planned and attended her strange version of a townhall meeting yesterday at the Albertson's on Boulder Highway. She may have thought she was doing something good for her constituents, but Congresswoman Titus was cloistered and shielded. At least she is consistent with her fellow Democrats, in refusing to have a legitimate townhall on health care during the Congressional recess. A legitimate townhall, the townhalls of our founding fathers, the townhalls conducted by Republican legislators, the townhalls conducted recently by KDWN's Heidi Harris, KXNT, and Republican candidates Danny Tarkanian and Joe Heck, involve standing in a great hall face to face with the people you care about, unlimited numbers, and fielding questions and giving answers for all to hear, and for all to learn. Unfortunately, Titus is not interested in advancing the discussion, or knowledge. She is not interested in debate. She is not interested in hearing or conveying the truth. Titus, aka "Alice," and her deluded liberal friends, were confused about the "tea parties," and now reality is still out of reach.

On Saturday Titus shirked the halls - and found refuge in the shopping cart garage of the Albertsons. A chance to ask the Congresswoman a question was limited to a select few - those who first stood in line to get a ticket, and then stood in line for a brief chance to be heard, only to receive a response that was not shared with the people. This is an outrage. Our government is metastasizing in a most frightening way, like a cancerous growth sucking out our liberties and abilities to earn a living, and our Democrat representatives are hiding from the people.

One wonders whether the Congresswoman needs help finding a convention hall. I would think that is no problem in Las Vegas, Convention Capitol of the world. Oh - but wait, Obama and Reid have probably scared any self-respecting Democrat from wanting to show any sign of support to any Las Vegas convention hall. All she has to do is ask, and I am sure we can help the Congresswoman come up with a place to have a real townhall.

When Titus arrived, a concerned Nevadan asked why Titus would keep the Congressional health care plan and elect not to accept the same health care plan that she is trying to foist upon the people. Titus refused to answer. I guess she is better than us; or she knows her position lacks integrity; or maybe she was afraid of anybody who did not have a ticket.

The Titus supporters were no more genuine than their leader. Half the size of the pro-liberty crowd, the Titus supporters shamefully pranced in disrespect of the American Flag. Titus supporters chanted with unpatriotic glee to us - - "Hide Behind Your Flag, Hide Behind Your Flag, Hide Behind your flag," as if the American Flag was some kind of despotic symbol, or that the principles it stood for - liberty, freedom, equality - were things to be despised.

Indeed, while we all waved dozens of American Flags with pride, not a single flag was to be seen on the Titus side of the street, at least for the first hour until we pointed that out to them, and someone apparently went inside the Albertson's to go buy a flag.

Titus should have rebuked her supporters for the lies they were spewing. They carried professionally-made signs that read: "83% Love the Public Option." And yet, despite this obvious nonsense, they had the gall to shout us down with their chant of "no more lies." Something is very wrong with this country when our legislators are forcing us to blindly accept an unconstitutional government run health care program, in complete disregard for the cost, in complete disregard for the will of the people, and without any legitimate attempt to allow the free and open debate on the issues.

Don't expect Titus to obtain a dose of reality anytime soon. She has already shown her propensity towards voting for excessive and oppressive taxes when she joined Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and other liberals in the House of Representatives in support of the Cap and Trade tax, regarded by experts to be the most expensive piece of legislation in the 233 year history of our great nation.

As for recent press reports that the pro-liberty, anti-public option, protestors are an angry raucous disruptive mob - that is far from the truth. This was a peaceful demonstration, with concerned Nevadans expressing their First Amendment rights to ask Congresswoman Titus to show herself and listen to our view that we don't want the government to control our health care system or our health care choices.

Towards Liberty,

Richard Scotti,
